On July 23, 2024, Ramiz Al-Kamrani, a military officer with the Al Amaliqa force, was reportedly abducted at a security checkpoint by forces linked to the Southern Transitional Council (STC). This incident reflects a troubling pattern of arbitrary detentions, disappearances, and extrajudicial actions that have plagued Aden since 2015, raising serious concerns about the rule of law and accountability within Yemen’s security framework. Despite international pressure and local demands for justice, the failure to address these violations transparently and effectively undermines public trust in the authorities. It underscores the urgent need for comprehensive reforms, stricter adherence to international human rights standards, and genuine political will to investigate and hold perpetrators accountable.
